“Why does Main Street smell like burnt ice whenever the moon comes up?

Nobody believes the stories—

not until you see the look in the eyes of someone who’s actually met it.

Tommy did.

He stumbled out of the subway at 2 a.m., jacket shredded, blood on his palms, breathing like he’d outrun death itself.

He couldn’t describe what chased him.

He said it doesn’t speak.

Doesn’t warn.

Just steps out of an alley—

face hidden, eyes wrong,

like a camera flash firing inside a fogbank.

And then the whole street goes silent.

You smell smoke, but it’s cold.

Like somebody burned snow until it screamed.

If you run, it follows.

If you hide, the shadows shift with you.

Walls ripple like they’re trying to remember your shape.

People joke about it… until they don’t.

Tommy said he kept hearing footsteps behind him—

slow, heavy, patient.

He turned once.
